Coaching is about discovery, tapping into strengths, overcoming challenges, and problem-solving. My approach to coaching is shaped by the humility of having led others through change efforts. It begins with listening and asking impactful questions, the courage to help leaders see themselves accurately, and discovering how they may be getting in their own way.
Social change coaching is anchored in equity and deep self-awareness. When coaching occurs without judgment, empathy, and challenge – it creates space for deep thinking and personal growth.
“John has been an excellent resource for executive coaching and change management. He is a fearless leader, willing to address difficult assignments with a clear sense of driving positive change and outcomes. He is results-focused, develops credible relationships and is willing to be flexible with his own time to ensure the desired results. I recommend John without hesitation and endorse his practice based on proven results.”
“Change in healthcare takes time, effort, and a clear understanding of the needs and interests of the critical stakeholders. John gets it. He ensured that the staff at all levels bought into the changes we wanted to make by guiding us through a road map that everyone impacted understood. This ensured buy-in from the most skeptical frontline staff to senior leaders.”
From 2001 – 2004, I was a consultant on the largest community change initiative conducted in the United States, the Bridges to Our Future project, in Berrien County, Michigan. Since then, I have worked on numerous community, nonprofit, and corporate change initiatives. I understand the challenges of supporting, funding, designing, implementing, and leading equity-based change firsthand.

Grounding for success begins with understanding an initiative’s capacity for sustainable and breakthrough results. The first step is an assessment based on the Seven characteristics of high performing organizations and teams. Click for PDF copy.
Creating a change road map involves developing a step-by-step process to guide change agents in designing strategies, prioritizing tasks, launching, and assessing a change program’s impact and results. The Social Change Road Map is an effective tool for maintaining focus and adjusting through an initiative’s implementation.
Workshops are designed to grow a change agent’s portfolio of methods, skills, and knowledge.
